Our Results

We understand the importance of measurable results in our programs, not only for our own growth and development but also for the schools and communities we serve.  We accumulate and compile feedback from the students and classroom teachers, and we gather the necessary feedback for improvement using primarily four methods:

1. STATISTICAL TRACKING OF PRE/POST-TESTS:
Pre/Post-test results from our local schools not only indicate a substantial increase in knowledge of the subject matter and a positive shift in attitudes towards abstinence, the results also show consistent overall increases in pre-test scores within individual schools over the three-year series of lessons, indicating that students do retain the knowledge and positive attitude toward sexual abstinence over time. The 8th grade pre-test scores at School A are higher than that class’s 7th grade pre-test scores, which are then higher than their 6th grade scores.

The results of the Pre/Post-tests along with the other variables that we track on the Scantron forms allow us to monitor our effectiveness in more detail, and more effectively revise our curriculum content to teach specific points better, and to coach our instructors in teaching methods that will deliver the message best for our students, especially those whose homes or culture make them especially at risk.  We have the ability to track scores on individual questions, compare years of data from one set of students over a five year period of time as they progress from 5th grade through high school, and correlate classroom scores with our teachers and individual schools.

At the end of the school year, our staff grades, summarizes, and distributes the results of the tests to the administration of the schools we serve along with the student evaluations as described in the next item.

Below is a chart which summarizes the results for the 2010-2011 school year for a sampling of middles schools that we serve.  It includes the percentage of correct responses for the PRE-test, the POST-test, and then the percentage increase.

2. CLASSROOM TEACHER AND STUDENT EVALUATIONS
We use an evaluation form with our local schools that contains a range to rank our program on a scale of 1 to 5 as well as areas that solicit written assessments from classroom teachers and students on our teachers and program.  We also use open-ended questions that invite students to more freely share their thoughts and comments anonymously.  We have provided some of the comments from recent evaluations below:

“I had wanted to chose abstinence before the CPR program and now that I've been in the class I feel even more strongly about that decision.  I learned also what would make my relationships more healthy.  I liked the Rational/Orderly Conflict Resolution lesson.  Thanks.”  Female, Westfield High School
“The CPR unit is presented in a very age appropriate and professional manner.  The students at {our school} were presented with the real facts which they need to see and understand.  The panel on Thursday was amazing!  There was a great variety of students who had different types of relatable backgrounds.  From HIV/STDs, pregnancy, abstinence, and secondary abstinence experiences...all of the panel speakers shared in an honest and open way.  The {CPR} teachers were professional and great with the kids.  They are extremely knowledgable and up to date with current statistics.  It is nice for our students to hear from a fresh voice who is a professional on this particular subject.  The week went great!  Thanks for all you do!”  Classroom teacher, Fishers
“In the past ten years, our school has transitioned through three puberty education programs.  Creating Positive Relationships has far surpassed the standards of the other programs that we have used.  CPR presents pertinent information to our students in a very age-appropriate and engaging manner.  The students love the instructional techniques used by the CPR instructors and participate actively in the lessons.“  Prinicipal, Fishers, Indiana

3. RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR ASSOCIATES
Our office staff work together as a team to meet the needs of our associate organizations.  Our Director of Operations serves as the point of contact for our associates and, as needed, the Program Director and Executive Director provide their expertise in their areas to meet the needs of the associates.  We provide offer consultation with interested organizations about our program as well as how to collect data, coordinate training, and tips on the implementation of the program in our communities.
